Mac OS X 10.7.3 Update

Today Apple released Mac OS X 10.7.3 the 3rd major update to Mac OS X Lion. To eliminate any potential issues, we generally recommend to update any supported systems using the standalone Combo installer, and not the built-in Software Update.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update.  If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast or rBoot.

What we know about 10.7.3 so far...
  • 11.3.0 Darwin kernel
  • Improved AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA graphics drivers.
    • If you use customized or edited graphics kexts, it will be necessary to make the edits again using the new drivers as a base.
  • The update will replace your AppleHDA.kext.
    • If you use ALC8xxHDA for onboard audio, you will have to reinstall AppleHDA Rollback using MultiBeast before rebooting.
    • If you use toleda's new AppleHDA for onboard audio, you will need to reinstall it before rebooting.
    • If you use VoodooHDA, you will not need to make any modifications.
  • If you use Sleepenabler.kext, remove before updating.

Considering applying the update today. Question, isn't there a boot argument to make a 10.7.2 SleepEnabler kext work? I remember reading something about adding the correct number to the flag "pmVersion="...

Will it affect anything else? I ended up re-running multi beast for the 10.7.2 update to get everything back.

I managed to install this fine on a GA-Z68X-UD5-B3 with a Core i7 2600k. After a couple of reboots though I kept getting a KP that listed it was a Realtek 8169.kext issue related to my onboard ethernet. In order to be able to successfully boot I had to switch off my LAN in my BIOS. But now this means I have no App Store or iCloud.

Also tried to make a Unibeast installer for 10.7.3 and failed booting on AppleUSBComposite (*.*.*) and would not boot any further

Updated to 10.7.3 using the Combo Updater. In my i7 GA-Z68XP-UD3P, no "real big" issues with the update so far (I am using a USB Sound Adapter) so no re-editing was needed. The previous post was correct that the TRIM Enabler went away, but I re-ran Multibeast to reinstall it, that worked fine, and I am a happy camper.

BEWARE of using Software update to get to 10.7.3. Macworld is reporting an issue where ---

"Some folks who installed 10.7.3 via Software Update—using the traditional update approach—discovered upon rebooting that every app they launched would crash, and the ensuing error dialog box sported bizarre overlays: gradient boxes reading “CUI CUI,” along with bright red question marks... A discussion thread at the company’s [Apple's] support forum has swelled to more than 130 posts about the issue."

To repair the issue, they say using the combo fixes things. So why not use the combo update to begin with

Succesfully updated on my Intel Core i3-540 3.07 GHz, GA-H55N-USB3-F5, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GT 240 512 MB. Just run combo update 10.7.3, dont restart ! run multibeast with yout dsdt motherboard file on desktop, check only audio and audio rollback option, after first reboot try if you run in 64 bit mode through terminal:
    uname -a
    if you have RELEASE_I386 i386 ... 32 bit
    if you have RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 ... 64 bit
switch to 64bit you must run multibeast again with only one option at the bottom:
bootloader option and check the 64 bit bootloader apple logo option
after restart chceck again 64bit mode in terminal

if you have 64bit mode in about your mac info in application this only mean app is 64 bit but is not mean system is running in 64 bit :)
