This development raises some interesting questions. Could this mean the end of the Mac-only graphics card? Could Apple be opening up the platform more? What happens to NVIDIA? Why support for cards that aren't in Macs yet? Will the 2011 Sandy Bridge iMacs contain one or more of these new 6xxx cards?

Quick info for my Gigabyte 5770 Batmobile.
I did 10.6.7 standard update (not Sandy Bridge), then trashed all ATI****.kext from /S/L/E, then extracted all ATI****.kext from the MacBookPro update and installed them to /S/L/E using KextBeast (you can run a KextUtility as well if you are extra paranoid)
I'm using Kabyl branch / ATI Experimental Bootloader and I just changed GraphicsEnabler=No in my boot.plist.
FULL QE/CI without need for anything more ! Guide on it's way !

I followed what you said you did. Everything seemed to go smoothly until reboot (of course!). I get the gray screen with Apple Logo, then the screen just gets goofy multicolored blocks all over it.
...and attempting to boot from my iBoot disk of course results in the "you need to restart your computer message"

on board without any problem - all working fine.Should I go to 10.6.7 and what must do I do to install apples native drivers?What is are the benefits?
So, other than getting one less line in chameleon, is this actually better? Have any of you compared performance between the native drivers and the chameleon option?
As far as I know there is a difference between hd 5570 and hd 5770. So on my system the msi hd 5570 is no go.

This is what the hardware section on the Tonymac Wiki is for. People can go and write their card model number, whether or not QE/CI is supported, and the methods they got it working with.
It helps new users make a more educated buying choice seeing if anyone else has got certain cards working and any issues they faced.
Since the update is so new, be patient, and people will add the cards to the database. I too was also waiting out for the 6xxx series cards to be supported. So now we play the waiting game.

If all future Macs will contain some form of embedded Intel graphics, does that not imply you will no longer need EFI support in the "other" GPU in order to get graphics on bootup?

ATi 5750 is not supported, need to edit ATI5000Controller.kext then add device id 0x68BE1002 to the info.plist

BTW, for those asking about QE/CI, that is Quartz Extreme and Core Image. Basically, when those are working, it means that full hardware acceleration is working in OS X.

Recently tried Multibeast 3.4 method, Sapphire HD5670 512mb ddr5 QE/CI working, but DVD Player crashes and no HDMI audio, profile shows Device ID 0x68D8, mine is 0x68b8 do I need to edit ATI5000Controller.kext or similar or maybe mantain some originals kexts? 5770 MSI working in 32 Bit im trying to get the GPU to run in 64 bit
Just purchased an XFX 5870 yesterday. Currently have a GTX 275 in my system (non-SandyBridge). Would I just have to run Multibeast with the new ATI drivers, remove and replace GTX 275 with 5870, and reboot? Or is there another step that I have to take?
Working great on my XFX 5850 with GraphicsEnabler=No and 64 bit kernel.
Will this work with a Intel DX58So Mobo and a PowerColor HD 4870? I had to buy a Nvida Gt9500 Card to get the System to boot and enter the OSX installer. When I try to swap the 4870 the screen flickers.

Is there still a 4GB Ram Restriction? this box has 6GB Cosair DDR3 Triple channel RAM. How about Limitations to size of Startup Volume?

My EAH5770 working but still everytime reboot I need to unplug & plug the DVI back to make my 27"Dell work! I didn't use any ATI inject, just use latest Chameleon ATI Exp. After install Andy's ATI Bug Fix I still got DVD player Crash! any help please?
I have a different query about this development. How difficult would it be to use this to install a Radeon card in my Mac Pro? Is more complicated than installing an extracted kext?

Having a Powercolor 5870, and DELL U2711, at 2560x1440.
After boot the screen is flashing, and there is impossible to use the monitor.
Logging in remotely, shows that the resolution is set at 2560x1440.
Setting the resolution to some other value, and back to 2560x1440, fixes the problem.
But after reboot the monitor starts flashing again :(

So I have read all that you people have put and I am still trying to get my XFX 5770 to work without the chameleon graphics injector, but still nothing. I had found posts that say you can edit the DSDT file to get it to work, but I am not using a DSDT. I have a ASUS P7P55D-E board and pretty much everything is fine (apart from audio input). So I see no need to use a DSDT. Anyone help with the steps to get graphics enabler=no without a DSDT file in the system?

I have been struggling with an XFX Radeon HD 5750 for quite some time now, so I'm wondering if I just reinstall 10.6.3 and update with the 10.6.7 combo update, and edit the info.plist to include 0x68be1002, will I have full qe/ci support out the box? I don't see my card listed on the opening post, but I do see a comment stating that this is possible... Can anyone confirm an HD 5750 working natively?

ok, so here is the deal...
1) install the 10.6.3 Retail
2)update with 10.6.7 combo
3)before reboot
i)run bridge helper
ii)run multibeast 3.7.1 with no any ati kext
iii)install chimera
4) and now reboot with GraphicsEnabler=No
*After that, it reboots normally with the apple logo and the thing that spins... and thats it!!! it keeps spinning forever !!!!!!!

I have ATI radeon HD 6570... any Idea is this update will support my card..... please help me...
So I installed asus EAH6850 and it works fine without injectors, but I get the DVD player crash and my novabench scores for the card really aren't that impressive. Any ideas on how to boost the performance of the card and remedy DVD palyer crashes? QE/CI are supported supported and multiple monitors are as well.
a little late here but I just built a hackintosh to serve as a backup machine for my MBP and I purchased an ati 5450 (visiontek.. cheap didn't need anything fancy) and during my second install (the first one used to get the process down) I upgraded to 10.6.8 before messing with any graphics and when it booted it worked OOB, no injector, no enabler, worked native.
