Is it mandatory to be used with Lion from this moment onwards? Or does it just makes things easier, that were difficult with previous version of MultiBeast?
(like adding npci=0x2000 to kernel flags in c.a.b.plist)

Great stuff guys.
Does this include the Native C2D/C2Q Speedstep support from Chameleon? I am trying to establish whether I need to patch DSDT for speedstep or not.
Thanks!

Why are the USB 3.0 drivers removed? What do we need to use to enable USB 3.0 support?

MacMan said...

@DropkickWalker

If it's supported in Chameleon 2.0 then it's supported in Chimera 1.5.4.

The USB 3.0 drivers were removed as they were causing issues on Lion systems. MultiBeast 3.9.0: Snow Lion Edition still includes them as they still work there.

We are looking for a working solution for Lion and will include one when found.

What about a new version of iBoot that can install a fresh copy of Lion?

Anonymous said...

Does this mean that we can now use gtx 570 without editing kext's and all the mess that was previously involved?

Why remove USB3.0? What problem does it cause?

My system has no problem at all so far after a month updated to 10.7.1. And I uses a USB3.0 PCIe card, guess I have to wait to update to MB Lion.....

So I ran this on my working Lion installation which has been running fine for weeks, and I checked few boxes in the bootloader section, and now I can't boot. I tried the flags -x -f -F and -v. Just restarts every time. Of course, when this would happen before, I would run iBoot.

Now, I don't know what to do to get back into OS X. Any ideas?

Yes!! Thanks for all your hard work, this is a great update for MB. But, I didn't had many problems with my USB 3.0 ports. The only thing I'm experiencing sometimes is a slightly lag when I plug a device. But overall they work just fine for me.

Question: If my system is working just fine, is it recommended to Run this MB update?

USB 3 has generally worked but there have been some flake-out issues. One time, simply plugging it in locked up the system resulting in a reboot, which as you all may know often indicates the driver/kext is not up to snuff.

usb 3.0 works fine on my lion install

Is this going to make my Hackintosh run faster?

I have tried reinstalling Lion now a few times using MultiBeast 4.0.1 but every time nothing installs, USB ports stop working no Audio or Ethernet Drivers install. If I use MultiBeast 3.9.0 everything works like it did in the past. What am I doing wrong?

Using EasyBeast method
GIGABYTE GA-P45T-ES3G
Core2 DUO E7500

Is it recommended to use /System/Library/Extenstions instead of /Extra/Extensions now?? I thought the whole point in using extra was to enable a smoother upgrade procedure ?

The issue with Nvidia Optimus and has not been resolved?
Intel HD 5700 + Nvidia 425m

Anonymous said...

yep! new iboot and new installation process

Do I need to reinstall 10.6 and 10.7 to get rid of the USB3.0 kexts etc? Or does Multibeast 4.0 removes them for me?

Enzo said...

Can you elaborate on the USB 3.0 issues people were having?

Anonymous said...

with yumi you can directly boot from an iso.

from a usb drive!!!

does that awesome like seeing brooke richards for the first time and hearing journey?

I ran this then ran the MultiBeast 3.9: Snow Leopard Edition to regain usb 3 on my Sabertooth x58 board.

How about the Nvidia Optimus ? will it work ?

Chimera is not working at all for me on i3 sands bridge laptop no boot at all. i use chameleon tr1251 for install (prepared usb stick) and then downgrade to 1017 to get my atheros ar5b97 wifi to work.
I don't know what the problem about that is, but maybe you can take a look at it for the next chimera update.
Awesome work what you do here in this blog.
Thanks

I am also wondering about the optimus thing....
no problem booting with graphics enabler=NO,
also I think the only thing "keeping" me in 32 bit is the voodoo track pad/mouse controller kexts, which do not work when I boot in 64 bit
any suggestions?....Tonymac Rocks!
thanks

Sorry guys,

If I had something to complain about I would try this new version of MB. I don't use my USB3 yet and the system is finally stable. I just upgraded my firmware on my OCZ SSD and got rid of the numerous coloured beach balls telling me to wait. I haven't had had one since the fw upgrade.

Thanks again for the great job. I'm sure I'll need to change something later.

For those asking about USB3 issues, my system (H67N-USB3) completely crashes when having a USB audio device connected to a USB3 port, specifically when attempting to adjust the volume levels. Like Tony says, it ain't quite there yet...

Why install the old version of e1000e kext and not the latest version? The old version is more stable?

Visor said...

Hi, I've been searching around trying to figure out if Optimus is functional yet.. only finding blogs and comments from a long time ago.. My question is: Does NVidia Optimus work? Or at least am I able to enable the NVidia card? Thanks for any help and info!

One question, just to confirm, my laptop has Nvidia and Intel graphic card, using Optimus. Is it possible to install Lion on it at all?
