Any chance support will be coming for Z68 Asus boards in CustomBeast?

What happens when a new version of ios comes out? If for some reason CustomBeast needs to be changed for lion, will we get an updated version? And would it be just as easy, run update, run CustomBeast? Thanks!!

Any triple monitor support for Lion with 5770? I would do custombeast for that or donate for help!

Hi Tony
Will this solve framebuffer issue- DVD player crash etc..
for my power color 6670

no support for 6950, 6970 and 6990 graphics cards?

Mohamed Ahmed said...

Tony
I am little confused what meaning of "All cards besides 6670 MUST be reference design: 2 DVI/HDMI/DP standard port configuration."

My card is power color 6670 Dvi/D-sub/Hdmi
Is that OK?

Karina said...

The recommended Gigabyte 6870 has 2DVI/HDMI/2x Mini DisplayPort, so not 1 display port connector as mentioned on the first post, does it still work correctly?

tonymacx86 said...

@ALL-
We just edited the post with the exact standard reference design port configurations. These are the ones that are supported by the CustomBeast Project. Hope this helps!

Karina said...

Thanks for clarifying the things. :)
I installed one week ago a Sapphire 6870 with 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort on my sister hackintosh and got only working DVI with Duckweed framebuffer, and DVI+HDMI when using RadeonFrameBuffer, so it could be related that it's advised to get a 2 mini DP based card when getting a 6870?

Hi tony! my GA-H61M-D2P can't be supported?

Alexander said...

Reference design Radeon HD 6870 has 2DVI/HDMI/2MiniDP, and written in the subject line: "DVI / HDMI / MiniDP / MiniDP". This is a bug?
Explain please in more detail.
Thanks!

tonymacx86 said...

@myth2loki-
That is supported.

@Alexander-
Thanks for the headsup- fixed.

So does dual display work with 6870?

Anonymous said...

will 6970 6990 cards fully work?

Anonymous said...

I'm a little confused and ask for help.
In Recommended Builds for OS X, video card listed Gigabyte GV-R687OC-1GD, but after careful examination, I realized that this is not the reference design. This fact is highly confusing. I would like to ask. Will this now (MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Dual DVI + HDMI + Dual miniDP) card reference design to work correctly with games, software, DVD player, etc. in OS X Lion?
Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate your help.

Will Custom Beast allow triple monitors with BOTH DVI ports? I'm reading that with 10.6.8, a lot of people are having trouble getting ATI cards to work in a triple monitor setup. It seems you can do it only with 1DV, 1HDMI, 1DP, but 2 DVIs will not work. Can you do dual display with 2 DVIs? In short, are the cards fully functional in this regard? Thanks!

if the cards are supported, does that mean audio through the DMMI ports will work?? cheers.

This looks sweet. Except I have an ASUS p8p67 board. Any likelihood that asus boards can be supported in the future?

is there any beast for radeon hd 4600 for 10.6.8?

Anonymous said...

If you run dual displays on a 6870 using the DVI ports use "GraphicsEnabler No" and all will be good, working very well here. I am using a XFX HD 6870.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous, thanks for the comment. You can specify exactly what model XFX 6870?

Hi Tony!
Huge gratitude from Siberia, Russia.

Radeon HD 5770 on my Gigabyte P55A UD3R works very well.
Dual display works too. ( use latest version of iBoot and MultiBeast}

Once again thanks.

Tony, I'm considering various video cards that are supported by you at the moment. However, I have a Core i3 2100 CPU with integrated graphics. I know this isn't supported in Snow Leopard. Do you know if this will be supported in Lion? I've been using a very old Radeon x300se 128mb card in the meantime, which is not even identified in OS X but does work for 1024x768 with GraphicsEnabler=No.

Hi,

I'm plannping to buy a Sandy Bridge system with i5 2400, Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 and a HD6790, which as I see isn't in the list. is it supported at all, or do I have to buy something else? or do you recommend to get something from the custoMac instead?

Thanks in advance.

re: My prior comment on the XFX 6870..its the XFX HD 6870 1GB. Device ID 6738.

Is it working in 6870 2DVI/HDMI/2MiniDP to get both DVI, DVD Player and DVI to VGA passive adapter?? ATY_INIT by netkas only DVD Player/Geekbench/Ableton Live.

Any plan to add support for Radeon XFX HD 6770? Just now I see it's not compatible (iboot - Retail DVD don't install it). I was thinking HD6770 was the same as HD6770M, but it is not! My mistake...

I've already bought it so I don't want to sell it if it's not necessary.
